The Road, the Office, & Half a Cup of Darjeeling Tea Pt.1
Good Evening all,
It’s about time we let you know what we’ve been up to in a more formal prose, so here we are.
Earlier this month we travelled down south and played the wonderful Regal Room in Hammersmith with the fantastic Isla, James Lane & Bella McKendree. The show was broadcast live and you can relive all the thrills and spills here - http://www.justin.tv/theregalroomlive/b/314027658 . We had an awesome night, and really appreciate everyone that came over. Following our evening there, we headed west, over to Bath to play at a great little pub called Ye Olde Farmhouse. The whole night was hilariously good fun, with some great characters cheering us on and some great music to boot from Locks and Gray Smith. We had a great time, met some awesome people and organised a visit back there, which I’ll move on to very shortly.
On return to the Us Is The New Them HQ, it was back to business, and we went and got ourselves some T-shirts printed, the beautiful design courtesy of Kelly O’Connell and Leigh Jones - http://www.lwjonesdesign.co.uk/ (whom we worked with on the Music Video for ‘Maps’ and will continue to work with for the entire visual accompaniment to ‘Patchwork’, along with his equally talented brother Dave - http://www.windupworldfilms.com/ ). So If you like the shirts, please come out to a show and pick one up, you’ll be providing us with food and petrol, and without food and petrol, we won’t be able to get all that far at all!
In other news, we’ve been confirmed for this years Liverpool Sound City festival, which we’re ridiculously excited to be playing. We’ll be sure to be catching James Vincent McMorrow, Michael Kiwanuka and Willy Mason (as well as a plethora of other fantastic artists), so we hope to see you there with us!
As well as LSC, we’ve also been confirmed for 2000 Trees Festival. You know it’s going to be phenomenal when Guillemots are headlining, and we’re truly honoured to be placed on the same festival. Again, it’d be fantastic to see you there with us, it’s going to be an insane weekend!
A little note on the Album, ‘Patchwork’. We’ve pushed the date back pretty far for it’s release. Initially, it would have been out now, but things don’t always necessarily go according to plan. Running a record label as well as playing in a band is a mean feat, and there just aren’t enough hours in the day currently to get everything that needs to be done in order to make the album release a success and to drive us forward. We want to get it out to you guys as soon as is physically possible, but we’re also aware that if we hold fire until the time feels right, then it could take us further than if we were to put it out next month. So provisionally, we’re looking at some time in July. The second single ‘Caves’ WILL be released in June, with a visual accompaniment by the aforementioned Dave and Leigh Jones (again: http://www.windupworldfilms.com/) and we’re very excited to get that out to you. So hang tight, we just want to ensure that it is all worth the wait, and to give you something that is worth it’s weight!
Take it easy
Fitz.
